PESLawyers Executive Director, Lenin Chisaira said there should be disaster response systems that are adequately funded as well as an inclusive commission of inquiry.

“Disaster response systems should be evaluated and adequately funded. An inclusive, free and open Commission of Inquiry into the Battlefields Disaster is pertinent. This Commission should analyse property right restrictions occasioned by large scale gold mine ownership and underutilisation of gold claims and blocks as well as on what really occurred during the disaster” said Chisaira
Eight miners were pulled alive whilst twenty four lost their lives in one of the worst mining disasters in the country.
