The mysterious death of rapper Tupac Shakur has been shrouded in mystery for decades.However, now there’s some more info to add to the conversation – and it’s juicy stuff, because it suggests there was a police cover-up in the investigation
According to a document that was dug up by the producers of A&E documentary Who Killed Tupac?, police actually found the gun believed to have been used in the killing – but never told anyone.
The documentary, in which civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump investigates the prolific death and reveals what he finds to Tupac’s brother, Mopreme Shakur.
“I want to present to you a document by the LAPD that is just shocking,” Crump tells Shakhur.
“This is confidential,Mopreme. If what this document says is true, they never intended for you and I to see this.
“They found a .40 caliber pistol. The Glock pistol was positively identified as the firearm used in the murder of Tupac Shakur.”
Crump then asks Shakur if he’d ever been told about the LAPD finding this gun, and that it had been tested as positive. Shakur says he hadn’t.
Crump continues to read out more of the document, explaining that it also said: “Due to the sensitive nature of the weapon recovery and the potential to alert criminal conspirators outside agency involvement, this document should not be shared with the Las Vegas Police Department.”
Tupac was gunned down on the Las Vegas strip back in 1996, and ever since his death has been subject to countless conspiracy theories. Many even believe that he is actually still alive.
But, despite the theories, no one actually knows exactly what happened, which means that any new information is extremely interesting – particularly if it suggests that findings have been kept out of public knowledge.
Here’s what the document said: The document said: “A .40 caliber Glock was found by a citizen in his backyard in 1998 […] which he reported to police. Compton PD records show it was booked as found property on May 30, 1998.
“In 2000, L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept. took over law enforcement of Compton, and 3,800 confiscated firearms – including that Glock – were transferred to the LASD.
“Fast forward to 2006, when Deputy T. Brennan – who’d been working the Notorious B.I.G.murder – was sifting through records. According to the doc, he recognized the address where the gun was found as the home of the girlfriend of a prominent Crip member […] known to have beef with Pac. The deputy immediately ordered ballistic testing, and bam – the results were a match for the firearm used to kill Tupac.”
