Bulawayo Sangoma Convicted for Counterfeit Money Scheme

Sangoma, Misheck Ncube of Bulawayo faces court charges for possessing counterfeit USD and South African Rand notes at his Cowdray Park residence. Ncube allegedly misled clients during money rituals, taking deposits of up to US$5,000 under false pretenses of multiplying their money.

Upon receiving a tip-off, police apprehended Ncube and found counterfeit notes totaling US$14,870 and ZAR400 hidden in a plastic bag under a pillow in his bedroom. In court, Ncube confessed to exploiting victims with counterfeit money, admitting that his promises of wealth through rituals were deceptive.

He received a six-month prison sentence, with two months suspended and four months subject to 140 hours of community service. Authorities confiscated the counterfeit money.
