In a tragic turn of events, a Botswana man, Nhliziyo Butho, has been arrested and charged with murder. The incident, which occurred near the Botswana-Zimbabwe border, involved a violent assault leading to the death of a Zimbabwean man.
According to police reports, the assault took place on December 23. Butho, along with several accomplices who are currently at large, allegedly armed themselves with a knobkerrie and an axe. The group is accused of pursuing the victim from Botswana to Zimbabwe, using an illegal border crossing to continue their chase.
Upon catching up with the man, whom they accused of burglary and theft in their homes, Butho and his group reportedly attacked him. The assault included axing and striking the victim on the head with a knobkerrie, inflicting severe injuries.
Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. Butho was apprehended at the scene of the crime. Authorities confirmed that the weapons used in the assault were recovered from him.
