Head of African Union Election Observation Mission set to jet in Zim tomorrow

The Head of the African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM)H.E Mr Hailemariam Desalegne will arrive in the country tomorrow.

According to a statement issued.Desalegne is set to give short statement to media and take a few minutes for a photo opportunity at the Robert Mugabe International Airport Zimbabwe.

Desalegne is the former Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. He was appointed by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission Mr Moussa Faki Mahamat, to lead the African Union Election ObservationMission to the harmonised Zimbabwe elections of 2018.

The African Union (AU) is the continent’s pan African body consisting of all 55 African countries. It was established on 26 May 2001 and launched on 9 July 2002, replacing the Organisation of African Unity (OAU).

The AU is charged with spearheading Africa’s rapid integration and sustainable development by promoting unity, solidarity, cohesion and cooperation among the peoples of Africa and African States as well as developing a New Partnership worldwide.
