In a dramatic twist of events in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, Dynamos were held to a 2-2 draw by Hwange after squandering a two-goal lead in a match that took place at Barbourfields Stadium this Saturday.

Dynamos, one of the most celebrated teams in the league, seemed to be cruising to victory when Donald Mudadi opened the scoring 29 minutes into the game, followed by Emmanuel Paga doubling the advantage 54 minutes in. However, Hwange mounted a formidable comeback with Marcelene Mlilo reducing the deficit in the 61st minute. The comeback was complete when Dynamos’ Donald Dzvinyai inadvertently scored an own goal in the 72nd minute, ensuring the points were shared.

Elsewhere, in a closely watched contest at Nyamhunga Stadium, Kariba, Caps United edged past Herentals College with a 1-0 victory, courtesy of a goal from Ralph Kawondera and subsequent defensive solidity. This win solidifies Caps United’s strong start to the season, positioning them as early title contenders.

The weekend’s marquee matchup saw defending champions Ngezi Platinum succumb to a 2-0 defeat against FC Platinum, with the latter’s Muvirimi scoring both goals at Baobab. This outcome has significant implications for the league standings, thrusting FC Platinum into the lead with 6 points.

In other action, Simba Bhora and Green Fuel battled to a 1-1 draw. Walter Musona scored a penalty for Simba Bhora, but Donald Ngoma equalized for Green Fuel, ensuring the spoils were divided. Additionally, TelOne demonstrated their prowess with a convincing 3-1 victory over Manica Diamonds at Bata, marking themselves as a team to watch this season.

After Saturday’s thrilling Match Day 2 fixtures, FC Platinum sits atop the league standings with 6 points, closely followed by a cluster of teams including TelOne, Simba Bhora, Green Fuel, Hwange, and Chicken Inn, all tied on 4 points.

The excitement of the Premier Soccer League continues on Sunday, with a highly anticipated Bulawayo derby featuring Highlanders and Bulawayo Chiefs, while Chegutu Pirates welcome ZPC Kariba to Baobab. The weekend’s fixtures conclude with the ZIFA ERLS Champions facing Yadah, wrapping up another enthralling round of football action in Zimbabwe’s top flight.
