The Secretary General of the International Criminal Police Organisation, Interpol, Dr Jurgen Stock was on a familiarisation tour of the Harare sub regional bureau in an attempt to strengthen ways of fighting international crime.

Dr Stock was this past week in the country to familiarise himself with the country’s law enforcement institutions in an effort to fight international crime.

“Zimbabwe is the sub regional office for Interpol in the region and my visit was aimed at combining efforts to fight international crime,” he said.

Dr Stock also met the Commissioner General of the Zimbabwe Republic Police Godwin Matanga and took the opportunity to thank the organisation for its cooperation in fighting international crime.

Interpol enables police in 192 member countries to work together to fight international crime.

It also provides a range of policing expertise and capabilities, supporting three main crime programmes; counter-terrorism, cybercrime, and organised emerging crime.
