Twelve people died in separate road accidents on Christmas eve with a total of 90 road accidents recorded down from 118 witnessed last year during the same period.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi said road accidents that were recorded on the 24th of December claimed 12 compared to seven who perished in 2016.

The police singled out speeding and reckless driving as major causes of accidents that killed many people yesterday.

Chief Superintendent Nyathi cautioned drivers to observe road rules and regulations.

He also urged passengers not to board unroadworthy vehicles.
