Staff ReporterA grave road accident involving a Toyota Alteza has resulted in the death of two individuals and left another injured in Bulawayo. The incident, as confirmed by the police, occurred on the evening of November 25, 2023, at approximately 7 pm.
The Toyota Alteza, while navigating a curve along 12th Avenue between Park Road and Heyman Road, tragically veered off its course and collided with a tree. This incident led to the immediate death of two passengers.
Authorities swiftly responded to the scene. The deceased were transported to the United Bulawayo Group of Hospitals for post-mortem examinations. Concurrently, the injured party was admitted to the same hospital for urgent medical care.
The police statement detailed the events, highlighting the time and location of the mishap. “Two people were killed whilst one person was injured when a Toyota Alteza vehicle veered off the road before hitting a tree along 12th Avenue at a curve between Park Road and Heyman Road on 25/11/23 at around 1900 hours. The bodies were taken to United Bulawayo Group of Hospitals for post mortem whilst the injured person is admitted at the same hospital,” the statement read.
The local authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Meanwhile, the police have urged drivers to exercise caution, especially when navigating curves and busy roads.
