Malawi set for 2022 FIFA World Cup

Malawi National Football Team Coach Meck Mwase has named a 33-member squad of local based players to startyygg camp on Sunday in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World qualifiers.

Malawi will play Botswana back to back in the first week of September in the Preliminary Round with the first leg set for Saturday 7th October away in Francistown and the return leg set for Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on 10th September.

Mwase has given maiden call-ups to seven players, who caught his eye during his Super League players’ assessment national tour two weeks ago.

They include Be Foward Wanderers goalkeeper William Thole and defenders Lughano Kaira of Mzuzu University-Mzuni and Justice Chihoma of Chitipa United.

Midfielders Fransico Madinga, Lloyd Njaliwa, Lackson Sangano and Emmanuel Muira are the other new faces.

In form Nyasa Big Bullets midfielder Chimango Kaira has made his way back in the squad.

The team will assemble on Sunday at the Mpira Village in Blantyre and training starts on Monday morning.
