Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, daughter of former South African President Jacob Zuma, was reportedly seen attending the Economic Freedom Fighters' (EFF) Tshela Thupa rally at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday, days before municipal elections.
Zuma-Sambudla was reportedly spotted at the gathering wearing a T-shirt bearing the words "Freedom Fighters". Her appearance has raised questions about her political future, although there has been no official confirmation that she has joined the EFF.
The rally marks the conclusion of the EFF's campaign ahead of South Africa's local government elections on November 4.
EFF leader Julius Malema was expected to address supporters and outline the party's plans for municipal governance, including its approach to service delivery.
The gathering, promoted as the "Mother of All Rallies", was scheduled to take place at the 40,000-capacity Orlando Stadium, also known as Orlando Amstel Arena.
Zuma-Sambudla's reported attendance follows political developments involving the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, founded by her father. Reports indicate that she was expelled from the party in June 2026.
The EFF secured approximately 10.32% of the national vote in the 2021 local government elections. The emergence of the MK Party has since changed South Africa's political landscape, creating additional competition for voter support.
The EFF has campaigned on proposals to improve municipal services, reduce reliance on outsourced services and expand access to basic services for qualifying households.
South Africa's Electoral Commission has scheduled special voting for November 2 and 3, followed by nationwide election-day voting on Wednesday, November 4.
Zuma-Sambudla's reported presence at the rally has not been accompanied by a public announcement of EFF membership or a formal political alliance.
