Harare-MDC leader Nelson Chamisa paid a visit to the late former President Robert Mugabe’s residence to pay his condolences to the Mugabe family.
Accompanied by senior members of his party Chamisa said despite differences they had with the former leader there was need to reflect on the contributions that the late veteran leader made.
“I have come here to pay honour and I am glad that I have come with my colleagues the senior leadership of the party. The reason why we are here is to do the African thing that is respect” said Chamisa
Reflecting on the rivalry they had with President Mugabe, Chamisa they had come in the spirit of Ubuntu (humanity).
“You are aware that Mr. Mugabe had connections and relationships with us in the context of politics on the other side with many differences.
“Beyond the differences that we had politically to serve our people, we have to reflect on his contributions so in line with our Ubuntu and what is expected of us, we have come to pay condolences to the Mugabe family” he said
Chamisa was accompanied to the Mugabe residence by party Vice president Tendai Biti, deputy national chairperson Job Sikhala and organising secretary Amos Chibaya.
There has been difference in opinion among the MDC leaders and its supporters accusing Mugabe of being and dictator who should not be celebrated however, Chamisa has implored his supporters to stop being bitter and forgive Mugabe.
