Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema confirmed the absence of prominent party figure Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi from their third National People’s Assembly in Soweto, dismissing questions about the missing official at the party’s elective conference.

Speaking to journalists at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg on Saturday, Malema insisted the conference would proceed without Ndlozi, stating “It’s going to happen, it’s happening without him.”

The EFF leader rejected suggestions that Ndlozi’s absence would impact the gathering. “We’re dealing with political issues here, not people who think they are bigger than this organization,” Malema said.

Ndlozi’s conspicuous absence extends beyond the current conference. Party sources note he has not appeared at recent EFF events across the country, raising questions about internal party dynamics.

Malema reported 90% delegate attendance at the conference, emphasizing the gathering’s success despite Ndlozi’s non-participation. “Whoever is not here, was not supposed to be here, from the beginning,” he stated.

The assembly marks a critical moment for South Africa’s third-largest political party as it selects new leadership and establishes policy positions ahead of upcoming electoral challenges.

Ndlozi, previously a prominent voice in party communications, has maintained social media silence since the conference began. When pressed about his whereabouts, Malema directed journalists to contact Ndlozi directly.

The meeting continues at Nasrec through the weekend, with delegates focused on party elections and policy discussions despite the notable absence of one of its most recognized figures.
