Gumbo takes over, announces team for Mauritius tie

Harare-Warriors caretaker coach, Rahman Gumbo has named his final 18-man squad that will take on Mauritius on Sunday in the 2020 CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) Qualifiers.

The squad left Harare this morning for the Indian Ocean Island. Gumbo was assigned caretaker coach following the resignation of veteran gaffer Sunday “Mhofu” Chidzambga.

He will be assisted by Lloyd Mutasa. The CHAN tournament is reserved for players plying their trade in local leagues.

Leading the team is current league to goal scorer Clive Augusto of Chicken Inn. The return leg is expected in a week’s time.

Goalkeepers: Talbert Shumba (Chapungu), Ariel Sibanda (Highlanders).

Defenders: Ian Nekati (ZPC Kariba), Xolani Ndlovu (Chicken Inn), Partson Jaure (Manica Diamonds), Peter Muduwa (Highlanders), Byron Madzokere (Yadah Stars).

Midfielder: Phineas Bhamusi (Caps United), Brian Chikwenya (Triangle), Richard Hachiro (Herentals), Nqobizitha Masuku (Highlanders), Ralph Kawondera (Triangle), Never Tigere (FC Platinum), Malvin Gaki (Chicken Inn), Leeroy Mavunga (Yadah Stars)

Strikers: Clive Augusto (Chicken Inn), Evans Katema (Dynamos), Prince Dube (Highlanders)
