Clwyd West MP David Jones has lost job as Brexit minister in a reshuffle by Prime Minister Theresa May.

The MP was re- elected last week to represent the constituency but has now been replaced as Minister of State at the Department for Exiting the European Union.

He has been replaced by Rt Hon Baroness Anelay DBE. who campaigned to remain in the EU.

Mr Jones, also a former member of the Welsh Assembly, was a prominent Brexit campaigner and led the Welsh “Vote Leave” campaign for last year’s EU Referendum.

He has represented Clwyd West since 2005 and has served as Welsh Secretary.

Other junior ministers sacked from the Government are: Defence Minister, Mike Penning and Justice Minister, Sir Oliver Heald.

Meanwhile, Mrs May has appointed the following MPs as ministers of state: Nick Hurd as a Home Office minister; Dominic Raab as justice minister; Anne Milton as education minister; Robert Goodwill as education minister; Claire Perry as business minister.

Mel Stride has also been appointed financial secretary to the Treasury.
