HARARE: The Nelson Chamisa led MDC Alliance will proceed with its planned march in the capital today, Tuesday 6 May.

The national organising secretary Mr Amos Chibaya yesterday urged party supporters to be peaceful as they petition ZEC over electoral reforms.

The MDC Alliance and its supporters will this Tuesday march in the capital in what they have termed “free and fair election peace march”.

Chibaya also alleged that they were aware that Zanu PF wanted to infiltrate and ferment ch

aos during the march but they will be alert and not be deterred from petitioning ZEC and government to act on reforms ahead of the elections.

ZRP Harare office has agreed to support MDC marchers and provided a time schedule and approved route to be followed by protesters.

Meanwhile, the planned Zanu PF youth counter demonstrations have been disapproved by police and officials within the ruling party citing possible violence if the country’s largest political parties were allowed to stage demos on the same day in the capital.

The ruling party has since urged their supporters to stay at home to allow MDC to carry out their demonstrations without hindrance.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission(ZEC) has refused to clarify the crucial issue of ballot paper printing for the 2018 elections slated for 30 July.

MDC fears that Zanu PF, Mnangagwa government and ZEC are working together to rig elections via secret ballot printing.
