China Ready to Assist Cyclone Idai affected Countries

China has pledged to provide assistance to Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe in the recovery after the lashing of Cyclone Idai, causing several deaths and considerable material damages in those African nations.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang assured that Beijing will respond to the requests of the three countries and will provide them with the necessary aid to assist the affected people and restore the infrastructure.

He further sent condolences for the loss of human lives and economic damages, wishing them a quick recovery from the disaster.

According to preliminary data, Cyclone Idai killed at least 84 people in Mozambique, 56 in Malawi and 98 in Zimbabwe, apart from thousands of missing, injured and widespread devastation.

Mozambique’s President Filipe Nyusi warned on Monday that about 100,000 people are in danger if they do not receive urgent aid.
