Shamima Begum’s baby has died according to “unconfirmed reports”, the lawyer for the British wife of an Isis fighter has revealed.
The 19-year-old Islamic State (IS) bride and her newborn son, Jarrah, had been living at a Syrian refugee camp after she had her British citizenship stripped.
Her family’s lawyer Tasnime Akunjee wrote on Twitter: “We have strong but as yet unconfirmed reports that Shamima Begums son has died. He was a British citizen.”
Begum – who said she had previously lost two children – revealed last month that her son was unwell but she would not allow him to return to the UK alone.
Her lawyer said she was moved to another site near the Iraqi border after receiving threats from other residents, but her exact location was not clear.
