Jose Mourinho has insisted that he was ready to shake Antonio Conte’s hand after the final whistle of Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Manchester United but said he did not see the Blues boss after the game.

Mourinho watched his side lose to the Blues for the second time at Stamford Bridge this season as N’Golo Kante’s second half goal ended up proving to be the difference between the two sides in west London.

Manchester United were reduced to 10 men in the first half when Ander Herrera was shown two yellow cards at Stamford Bridge.

And it ended up proving to be a disappointing return to Stamford Bridge for Mourinho as Chelsea set up a semi-final clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

Mourinho didn’t shake Conte’s hand after the final whistle but the Manchester United boss insisted that was not an issue.

“If I see him here I will shake it,” Mourinho told his post-match news conference at Stamford Bridge.

“I didn’t because I thought my players deserved my action immediately and I our supporters also deserved our thanks to them, so it was that.

“I can promise you that if I see him out there I will shake his hand.

“I have nothing to speak with him at all, but to shake his hand, for sure I will do that.”

Manchester United now turn their attentions towards their crunch clash with FC Rostov in the Europa League on Thursday night.
