Salford, England – In a tragic incident that has shaken the community of Salford, Greater Manchester, Perseverance Ncube, a 35-year-old Zimbabwean woman, was fatally stabbed early Friday morning in front of her two children. Known affectionately as Percy to her friends, Ncube was described as a “loving and devoted” mother and a “real angel” by those who knew her.
Greater Manchester Police have arrested Obert Moyo, 45, also a Zimbabwean national, charging him with Ncube’s murder and possession of an offensive weapon. Ncube, found with a critical chest wound, was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.
On Saturday night, friends and neighbors held a candlelit vigil near Ncube’s residence in Little Hulton, paying tribute to her life. A friend from Ncube’s church shared, “Words can’t express how good this woman was.”
In a heartrending statement, Ncube’s family expressed their immense pain and loss. “Percy was an active member of her church and had created a beautiful community for herself and her children,” the statement read. “She was cruelly taken from us due to domestic violence.” They emphasized their commitment to supporting her children in the wake of this tragedy.
GMP have issued an appeal for any relevant footage from dashcams, CCTV, or doorbell cameras around 2.40 AM on Friday, in efforts to aid the investigation.
Moyo, the accused, has a prior criminal record. He was released from prison three years ago after serving half of a 10-year sentence for assaulting his ex-girlfriend in 2013.
This incident has highlighted ongoing concerns regarding domestic violence and the support systems available for victims. The community and Ncube’s family are now left to mourn and seek justice in the wake of this devastating loss.
