Sibusiso Moyo who was the husband of Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) chair Justice Loice Matanda Moyo, has been fighting a kidney ailment for some time and is reported to have contracted Covid-19 two days ago according to government sources.

The late Minister SB Moyo is famous for announcing the November 2017 military intervention which ultimately resulted in the removal of the late President Robert Gabriel Mugabe after 37 years at the helm of the country.

SB Moyo’s death comes just a few days after another minister, Ellen Gwaradzimba died due to Covid-19 complications. Gwaradzimba was the Minister of State for Manicaland Province.

The General’s death also comes a few days after Acting President and Minister of Health and Child Care, Constantino Chiwenga announced that the Covid-19 situation in Zimbabwe is under control.

The Minister has not been feeling well for the better part of the last two years and would sometimes go for months without making a public appearance due to frequent hospitalization.

In November 2019, he was admitted to a hospital in South Africa for what was described as a ‘complicated operation.’

This came after the Minister spent about four months the preceding year without making a public appearance after being admitted at a South African hospital. The Minister had been initially admitted at the Avenues Clinic in September 2018, in what had been announced as a minor illness.

However, from then on, the situation escalated and he never made any public appearances and was reported to have gone to South Africa for treatment.
