Daniel Dae Kim credits ‘secret weapon’ for COVID-19 recovery

Actor Daniel Dae Kim (51) said he feels “practically back to normal” after taking a combination of drugs that include hydroxychloroquine, the anti-malarial drug President Trump has touted, calling it his “secret weapon.”

“Yes, this is the drug that the President mentioned the other day,” Kim said in an Instagram video Saturday, noting that Dr. Anthony Fauci had cautioned that supposed success stories were “only based on personal accounts.”

“Well, add my name to those personal accounts, because I am feeling better,” Kim insisted of the drug he noted was being “used with great success” against the virus in Korea.

“I won’t say this is a cure and I won’t say definitively that you should go out and use it, but what I will say is that I believe it was crucial to my recovery,” said the actor, also known for “Hawaii Five-0.”

“Obviously I am not a doctor, nor am I a lawyer — though I have played them on TV,” he said, breaking into a huge grin.

Kim said his quarantine could end Monday, but admitted that “for peace of mind” he would “love to be” tested again, but “there just aren’t enough tests.”

“This continues to be a serious problem in our country,” he said, also noting the alarming shortage of medical supplies during the pandemic. “This mystifies me considering we had a several month head-start in preparing for this outbreak,” he said.

He said his family had remained “symptom-free,” quipping, “Just bored, like the rest of us.”
