In the wake of Tropical Cyclone Idai, and a number of other disasters political and otherwise, some Zimbabweans have concluded that their nation is cursed.

But not so, says Prophet Bruce Edwards the leader of Kingdom Empowerment Church (KEC) a prophetic church based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

Prophet Bruce Edwards told Report Focus News that he believes in active faith. His church will not only pray for the victims of Cyclone Idai, but will raise funds through fasting.

“As a church we will forego meals and contribute whatever we would have used for food during the time we are fasting and contribute that towards feeding victims of the cyclone.”

He also said that his church had put in place a relief team which was tasked with sourcing tined foods, blankets, and clothes to help those affected by the cyclone.
“We all have to do the best we can, every contribution counts towards helping the victims and together we can help alleviate the discomfort that cyclone Idai has brought on the lives of our brothers and sisters in the eastern parts of Zimbabwe, particularly, Chimanimani which was most affected.

Prophet Bruce Edwards is one of the few from the prophetic churches in Zimbabwe to champion and rally for resources for the victims of cyclone Idai. Leaders from the prophetic churches have already come under criticism for not availing help in the aftermath of the cyclone.

However, the so-called-traditional churches have been visibly in the forefront of rallying resources for the cyclone victims with the Presbyterian church, the Salvation Army and the Catholics already on the ground helping victims.

Meanwhile, some Gospel artists from Zimbabwe have organised a music concert to raise funds and material for cyclone victims dubbed ‘GOSPEL UNITED FOR IDAI VICTIMS!’

Reverend Chivaviro, Mathias Mhere, Sabastian Magacha, Janet Manyowa, Tembalami, Pastor G, Minister Mahendere, ZimPraise, Nyasha Mutonhori Nyaparami, Pastor Josh Kays and many other gospel artists are coming together this Sunday 24 March in Harare Gardens from 1-6pm the concert is free entry however, patrons are asked to bring a donation which will go toward the Cyclone Idai victims.
