A teenager has died after being shot in the head – the third killing in London in 24 hours.

Police were called to the 18-year-old victim, who has been named locally as David aka ‘Dutch’, at St Ann’s in Barking at 7.09pm last night.

Firearms officers, local police and the London Ambulance Service found a man – thought to be aged 18 – with a gunshot wound to the head at the scene.

He was taken to an east London hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10.25pm.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.

The man’s next of kin have been informed but formal identification is yet to take place.

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course, Scotland Yard said.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connect with the murder and remains in custody.
