Zanu PF Matabeleland North Province has endorsed President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the party’s President and First Secretary, as well as its presidential candidate for 2018, harmonised elections.
The Zanu PF leadership met in Lupane to review its performance for the year 2017 and note the challenges that affected the operations.
Among some of the achievements are the ability to hold all Provincial Coordinating Committee meetings and provincial inter-district conferences in line with the party constitution.
Zanu PF provincial chairperson for Matabeleland North Cde Richard Moyo said the province agrees with the decision taken at the special central committee meeting on the 19th of last month and endorses Cde Mnangagwa as the Zanu PF Presidential candidate in next year’s elections.
“As a province we also came up with resolutions and one of them is that we have agreed to have Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa as our First Secretary and secondly, he is our presidential candidate for the 2018 general elections,” he said.
The province was affected by divisions which saw the ouster of Professor Jonathan Moyo, a former member of parliament for Tsholotsho North, and a former Politburo and central committee member.
Meanwhile, preparations to travel to Harare for the extraordinary congress this week are at an advanced stage.
