Police in Limpopo have launched an urgent manhunt for three armed and dangerous prisoners charged with murder who escaped from custody in Letsitele, near Tzaneen, on Tuesday morning. The escape occurred at approximately 05:35, according to provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.

The suspects, identified as Patrick Mbombi, Thabo Moye Makgopa, and Javas Mongwe, were awaiting trial for murder when they allegedly overpowered on-duty officers and fled on foot.

Ledwaba urged the public not to approach the suspects due to their dangerous nature and to report any information on their whereabouts to Detective Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mavis Shilubane at 082 469 0900, the nearest police station, or the toll-free number 08600 10111. Tips can also be submitted anonymously via the MySAPS App.

“All information will be treated with strict confidentiality,” Ledwaba assured. Police investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fugitives and determine the circumstances of the escape.

The public is advised to remain vigilant as the search continues
