Iran’s Foreign Ministry denounced the G7’s statement on the Israel-Iran conflict Tuesday, accusing world leaders of ignoring what it called Israel’s “blatant aggression” against Iranian nuclear facilities and civilian targets.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said the G7 statement “revealingly disregarded” Israeli attacks on Iran’s “peaceful nuclear infrastructure” as well as “indiscriminate targetting of residential areas and killing of Iranian citizens.”

The criticism came after G7 leaders meeting in Canada’s Kananaskis described Iran as the “principal source” of regional instability and terror during their three-day summit that ends Tuesday.

“Member States of G7, in particular the three Permanent Members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) must shoulder their legal and moral responsibility,” Baqaei posted on X, referring to the US, UK and France. “They have to call a spade a spade.”

Baqaei argued that Israel had “launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran and attacked its nuclear sites in violation of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter.” He described these actions as an unprecedented attack on non-proliferation regime protections for non-nuclear states.

The spokesperson claimed hundreds of innocent people have been killed and that Iranian hospitals and health centers have been targeted during the ongoing conflict, now in its fifth day.

The G7 statement affirmed that “Israel has a right to defend itself” and reiterated support for Israel’s security. Leaders also stressed that “Iran can never have a nuclear weapon” while calling for de-escalation including a ceasefire in Gaza.

Terming the joint statement of the G7 nations as a “one–sided rhetoric”, Baqaei stated that the G7 must abandon its statement and address the real source of escalation that is “Israel’s aggression”.

The diplomatic clash comes as missiles from Iran were fired at Israel, triggering air raid sirens in Haifa and dozens of other cities Tuesday, according to the Israeli military.

President Donald Trump left the G7 summit a day early Monday, citing the need to monitor the “intensifying” Middle East situation from Washington.

“The UNSC members should, shall and must act now in furtherance of the Council’s primary responsibility and stop the aggressor from committing more atrocities,” Baqaei said, calling for immediate action to end what he termed Israel’s violations of international law.

Iran maintains it is defending itself against aggression. “Does Iran really have any other choice?” Baqaei asked in his statement.

The G7 summit, hosted by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, had originally planned to focus on energy security and digital transitions but pivoted to address the unfolding Israel-Iran crisis.
