JOHANNESBURG- The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced a recall of the 2024 Ford Ranger light commercial vehicle due to a manufacturing defect that could increase the risk of a crash.

The recall, confirmed by Ford Motor Company earlier this week, affects vehicles sold across South Africa and exported to neighbouring countries, including Namibia, Botswana, and Eswatini.

According to the NCC, a defect involving the misplacement of the front lower control arm on the left-hand side has been identified. This fault may lead to separation at the joint, which could result in the driver losing control of the vehicle.

“This may increase the risk of an accident or injury,” said Prudence Moilwa, spokesperson for the NCC. She urged all affected consumers to immediately contact their nearest authorised Ford dealership to schedule a repair.

The commission continues to monitor vehicle safety issues and has recently overseen recalls involving multiple car models due to similar engineering defects.
