Livhuwani Madadzhe, the comedian known as “SABC Livhu,” appeared in Thohoyandou Magistrates’ Court facing fresh charges of motor vehicle theft and fraud. The case relates to allegations he unlawfully rented multiple vehicles from car rental companies.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi said Madadzhe allegedly rented a BMW X3 from Avis and vehicles from other rental companies over an extended period. He reportedly also posed as a rental agent on social media, fraudulently offering vehicles for hire.

These new allegations emerged while Madadzhe is already standing trial at Thohoyandou High Court for murder and fraud charges. In that case, he is accused of killing his wife, Lindelani Nengovhela, 32, and concealing her body in a hole at their homestead.

The comedian also faces charges of submitting a fake death certificate for his mother to claim insurance payouts.

Madadzhe was granted R50,000 bail for the murder case with strict conditions including regular reporting to Sandton police station and not committing further crimes.

His case for the vehicle theft charges has been postponed to March 18 for bail application, while his murder trial continues on March 17.
