A Durban man crashed his SUV into a boulder following a heated argument with his wife who had discovered female clothing in his vehicle. The incident occurred while the couple was driving from Cottonlands to Mhlasini.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) reported that the 49-year-old wife alleged her husband threatened to kill them both during the dispute. He allegedly attempted to crash the brown Nissan Qashqai into a tree but instead struck a boulder, with the vehicle coming to rest in nearby bushes.

The wife sustained back injuries in the crash while her husband emerged unharmed, according to RUSA officials.

Authorities have not confirmed whether criminal charges will be filed against the husband as the investigation continues. Police are working to determine if the crash was a deliberate suicide attempt or resulted from reckless driving during the emotional confrontation.

RUSA responders provided medical assistance to the injured woman at the scene. Investigators are gathering information about the couple’s history to establish whether this incident forms part of a pattern of domestic conflict.

The case highlights the potentially dangerous consequences of escalating domestic disputes and underscores the importance of early intervention in volatile household situations.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, with no formal charges announced at this stage.
