CAPE TOWN – Four men will appear in court Thursday following their arrest for allegedly killing five people in a shack at Mfuleni’s Madikizela informal settlement on Sunday afternoon.

Cape Town SAPS detectives arrested the suspects Tuesday through an intelligence-driven operation, seizing an assault rifle and three pistols as evidence.

Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembisile Patekile expressed confidence in the case against the suspects. “We believe that we have a strong case against them in relation to the murders that happened on that day,” he said.

The bodies were discovered with gunshot wounds inside the shack.

Police have increased deployments in Mfuleni and other high-crime areas ahead of the holiday season.
