A 23-year-old woman has been arrested for the alleged murder of her father in Inanda, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
The incident occurred early Tuesday morning in the Skokoko area of Inanda. According to KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the woman is accused of setting the house on fire while her father was inside.
The victim, a 47-year-old man, was found burnt beyond recognition in the house, which was completely destroyed by the fire. Reports indicate that before the fire, the victim was allegedly assaulted with a gas gun on the head by his daughter. Both the father and daughter were reportedly intoxicated at the time of the incident.
The suspect allegedly fled the scene but was later arrested by police. She will appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court to face charges of murder and arson. The motive for the crime is currently unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
Colonel Netshiunda stated, “We are investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.”
