Harare- Incarcerated journalist cum political activist Hopewell Chin’ono is reportedly ill at Chikurubi Maximum Prison in Harare where he is remanded.

Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala who is also in remand on charges of inciting public violence confirmed the latest developments when he appeared at Harare Magistrate Courts today.

Human Rights lawyer Dougie Coltart confirmed the same after visiting Chin’ono at Prison.

“I have just visited Hopewell Chin’ono at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison and can confirm that he is unwell. We have alerted his private doctor who will be attending to him immediately and we will act accordingly based on the medical assessment and advice,” said Coltart

Chin’ono has made several attempts to have bail granted but has hit a brick wall with his lead lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa disqualified from representing him.
