Historic moment Boris Johnson signs withdrawal agreement in Downing Street

January 25, 2020

Boris Johnson has signed the Withdrawal Agreement Bill that will bring the UK out of the EU on January 31.

The prime minister hailed a “fantastic moment” for the country after he put his name to the historic agreement, which paves the way for the UK’s exit from the European Union next Friday.

He said he hoped it would “bring to an end far too many years of argument and division”.

Earlier in the day, the presidents of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, formally signed the agreement in Brussels.
