After four days of intense scrutiny and assessment during the Under 17 selection Pre-training camp, Under 17 Coach Deklerk Msakuona has named a 30- member squad to go into full camp in preparation for the 2019 COSAFA Youth Championship.
About 40 boys selected during a two-day Inter-Regional Tournament two weeks ago competed for places in the final squad from Tuesday this week.
Msakakuona said it was a huge task to come up with the 30 as all the boys did well to get a place in the final squad.
“The boys worked hard and each of them did enough to earn a place in the final squad. But unfortunately we couldn’t get all of them. The 10 that have been dropped are still part of the bigger picture and will act as back up.
“We will now start working with the 30 from Monday (August 12) and as a technical panel we are confident that we will build a very strong team that will challenge for the 2019 COSAFA Youth Championship honours,” he said
Malawi will host the COSAFA Youth Championship in Blantyre between 25th September and 5th October this year.
