Royal baby is finally named. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have named their baby son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, the couple announced on their Instagram account.
The announcement came after the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh met their eighth and newest great-grandchild for the first time at Windsor Castle.
There was no mention of a potential royal title for Archie.
Talking about their first few days as parents, Meghan said: “It’s magic, it’s pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world so I’m really happy.”
The duke added: “It’s great. Parenting is amazing.
“It’s only been two and a half days, three days, but we’re just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy.”
The baby is seventh in line to the throne, and will not get the title HRH unless the Queen steps in.
However, he is likely to be an earl – possibly Earl of Dumbarton.
It has still not been confirmed where the duchess gave birth but there are reports that it may have been at the private Portland Hospital in central London.
There was also speculation the couple had been hoping for a home birth at their new home, Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate.
Baby Sussex’s birth comes less than a year after Harry married the American former actress in a star-studded ceremony in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, got engaged after dating for 16 months after being set up by a mutual friend.
