Parliament has summoned former president Robert Mugabe to appear before the Portfolio Committee on Mines and Mining Development on Wednesday to answer to a litany of cases which took place when he was still in office, including the loss of $15 billion worth of diamonds revenue.

The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Energy, Mr Themba Mliswa said the former President will be required to appear before parliament on Wednesday.

He added that parliament was merely exercising its oversight role and it was not on a witch hunting exercise and they could actually hold the hearing at Mr Mugabe’s house given his advanced age.
